CHARLES H. JUETT, a well known farmer of Woodstock township is the subject of the following biographical sketch. He is a native of the State of Kentucky, born in Fayette county, June 7, 1831, a son of John and Catharine (Hoffman) Juett; the parents were natives of the Bluegrass State, and there passed all their days; they had born to them a family of nine children, two of whom died in infancy, and four of whom are yet living. Charles H. was married February 22, 1859, to Miss Mary Jane Hoffman, a native of Fayette county, Kentucky, and a daughter of Michael and Syba Hoffman. Nine children have been born of this union, two of whom died in infancy: John M.; William, who is married and has one child; Anna M., married and the mother of two children; Catherine A., married and the mother of three children; Eliza E.; Charles H.; Benjamin D.; Effie S. and Francis M. After his marriage Mr. Juett removed to Illinois, and settled in Brown county; later he came to Schuyler county, and here he purchased 160 acres of timber land; he then undertook the task of clearing this and placing it under cultivation; he erected a log cabin, 16 x 18 feet, which was afterward destroyed by fire. As his means increased he made additional investments in land, and now owns 320 acres, all under cultivation. He is engaged in general farming, and has been very successful. He has filled various local offices, and in both public and private life he has made a record for honorable and correct methods of dealing that command the confidence of the entire community. In politics he was allied with the Whig party until its dissolution, and since that time he has voted the Democratic ticket.
