Mrs. Gary Newell
A very sad and sudden death occurred last Thursday evening about six o'clock, being the death of Mrs M.E. Newell, who
resides about three miles north of Lima. She was forty-eight years of age. She leaves her husband and nine children to
lament her loss, as follows; William of Texas; Mrs Joy Reed
of Denver, IL Nellie, Ray, Emery, Maude and Blanche who still reside at
home. The deceased had formerly taught school and was a woman greatly respected by all. She was a great home woman, her
time being taken with looking after the interests of the home and care of her children. The home is indeed a sad one and the
sympathy of the entire community goes out to the grief stricken husband and children. Mrs Newell had been in
Denver on the Sunday
previous and beside a tinge of earache was in usual health. On Monday she suffered with a sick headache, a common ailment
with her; but on Monday night she was taken worse and on tuesday two physicians were summoned and her disease was found to be
meningeds. She remained in am unconscious condition from tuesday morning until her death, never regaining
consciousness. The funeral was held from the Christian church in Augusta on saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev
Leonard, pastor of that church, the interment being in the new cemetery at Augusta. Deceased was a member of the Christian Church
in Denver, and was faithful
to her religion.
